Elroy: Say there was somebody who was a Green -- a Sunlander. And they were out of the Wharves past curfew. What would the law do to them?
Riley: In theory, nothing. The curfew law violates the Founder's Bill; any halfway decent lawyer could prove that.
Elroy: An'... in not-theory?
Riley: In practice, the curfew helps keep some people in power. Anyone pleading guilty is looking at a heavy fine -- maybe a track-collar slapped on them if they're repeat offenders. Anyone challenging the law gets thrown out of court, if they're lucky. So far, there's been more crooked judges than lucky Sunlanders.
Elroy: ... So people can just ignore laws?
Riley: So it appears.
Elroy: Doesn't that make bein' a lawyer kinda pointless?
Riley: Send over someone who's not a minor, will you? I need another refill.

Couple of updates to the site:
1) I have replaced the comment system, because people were having trouble with the captcha on the old one. It looks good, but go on, try and break it. It's how I learn.
2) Those of you using IE at low screen resolutions will no longer have the sidebar vanishing under the comic. Sorry this took so long to fix, guys, but your browser, it is a bitch.
3) On the off chance someone is in the holiday spirit, I added a donate button. I also decided to try something different than the usual wallpaper, something which may interest you crazy worldbuilding mavens who actually read these comments. Check it out.
