Ria: And the Lowtown Drag will start soon. Never missed the race before either.
Travis: We could... um... play cards....
Ria: I've been here for weeks! I'm sick of cards. Did your commander order you to keep me in here?
Travis: Not exactly order, but --
Ria: What if we only went out for a little while?
Travis: Ria, no. That isn't safe.
Ria: But if....
An hour later:
Ria: An' if we just caught the race, we wouldn't be out past eleven, an' Masquerade is really safe, an' I'd be really really good and stay right beside you the whole time, an' --
Travis: If I say yes, will you shut up?

Still running behind on everything. To make up for it, some shiny reading material:
Runners is a pretty fabulous webcomic I stumbled across earlier this week -- somewhere between Star Wars and Firefly, but less human-centric and with fewer wimpy Jedi and annoying geisha characters, respectively.
And a name showed up in comments recently that I was trying to place, until I realized I'd read her online novel Exile's Burn last summer. Really good space opera is hard to come by these days, so you should look her up.
It seems like there was a third link, but I've forgotten it and I'm late for work, so....
