I intended to post something more substantial as filler, but was attacked by plots and did a bunch of scripting instead. So you get pretty pictures. For the curious -- this is the second of Tom Thorn's female cadres, Eva Peron. Behind her is her droiteman, a woman generally known only as the Spider. Spider is a high caliber cyber-adept who designed and maintains the Porttown network -- it's said that you can't so much as slap a fly in Porttown without getting a polite note from the Spider demanding the cadre's cut of the kill fee, and her contacts and networks elsewhere in Kieselburg are terrifyingly extensive. And still she is far less dangerous than her boss. Eva started in the business as girlfriend to a somewhat influential Porttown tete, Dubois; however, she was also sleeping with a rival tete, Angelicos, and conspired with her to kill Dubois. She then killed Angelicos and took both territories. Her territory expanded from there rapidly enough to alarm her cadre, who ordered his droiteman to dispose of her. But Eva played a long game. The Spider was at that time a very junior member of the cadre's household who had known Eva when she was a child and Eva only a tete's girlfriend -- a fact both women were at pains to conceal. Spider, already far deeper into the cadre's networks than he realized, was able to pass enough information to her old friend that Eva not only survived but killed the cadre. How she reconciled Tom Thorn, never a fan of ambitious upstarts, to this is unknown, though vicious gossip suggests she made her most persuasive arguments on her back.

Since then Eva, the youngest of the cadres, has made a name for herself as the most bold and flamboyant. Thorn alternately praises her flair and curses her impudence, but rarely curbs her. She has a longstanding feud with Thorn's son Tristain, of whom she famously said 'The old man's a Thorn -- but the young one's just a little prick.' Aside from Ethan Raven, who seems to have come to an understanding with her, she allies with and betrays the other cadres as she sees fit, seeming always to know how far she can push her luck. She is capricious, vicious, and charming; takes and discards lovers frequently, some few of whom even survive the experience; and rules the lucrative territory of Porttown with an iron hand. Because gangsters have a really weird sense of humor, she is nicknamed La Fleur.

Hoping to have real updates by next week -- and there's a bit of a treat in the vote incentive, if you care for such things....
