Travis: I didn't get much, ma'am. It's not a happy place, is it? I didn't see much of Weston Purdue, but he seems to surround himself with weak people he can bully to make himself feel strong. They live in fear, or find someone weaker to bully in turn. I didn't find any direct evidence that something was wrong. But it's hard to imagine anything good coming out of that.
Zhu: Quite... quite acceptable, Neuman.
Travis: It's kind of you to say so, ma'am.
Zhu: But you missed the important bit. They were prepared. Not just prepared for the Empire; prepared for me. Someone in your pcecious IAF talked.
Travis: Um, ma'am... Specialist Tau...
Zhu: Cross-fertilization of information between departments is inevitable. Your boss exploiting that is competence. But outsiders? Intolerable.
Travis: But the Weston project --
Zhu: These fools can stew 'til they boil. The Empire has a leak. And the Imperial Court will plug it.
