XRiley: I can get the confession thrown out and probably file for a judge who isn't incompetent. And both Etienne and the victim were involved in street racing, which oddly enough I have a contact for. But what I really need is Etienne
talking.
Cory: So I take it you
won't be looking to trade this case off on me, after all?
Riley: I can't, Cory. You'd smash him.
Cory: Fair enough. I've never had much patience with the weepy ones. You did it, you got caught, time to put your head down and do what the nice lawyer tells you.
Riley: I may still ask for help. You know I don't take many murders.
Cory: Anytime.
Riley: ... they don't always do it, you know. Sometimes they're innocent.
Cory: Riley, honey, what does it matter? These people are washed-up trash on the lakeshore of civil society. They're floaters. On the off chance they're innocent of what they got done for, they're still guilty of something. That's how they survive. Personally, I like the dirty ones. Knowing you just talked the court around to 'not guilty' for a client who's blood up to the elbows? There's nothing better than a win like that.
Riley: ... How do you
sleep?
Cory: Far better than you. Funny old world, ain't it?
